Safari

Jolene and Bob Edwards, along with Chris and Lisa Keck, joined us. The experience is beyond words, and we were always busy. We flew from Capetown to Tanzani, Ngorongoro Crater area. It claims the most biodiversity of wildlife in the world with over 300 large and small carnivores.

Termite House
These “houses” are all over. Some were terra cotta colored. Saw little marmots looking out.

Zebra
I expected to see a few zebras during the safari, but we came across hundreds. The males are black and white, while the females are brown and beige. Our guide mentioned that the females look dirty, with their brown and beige shades instead of black and white. Zebras and wildebeests have a symbiotic relationship. Zebras eat the taller grass, which allows the wildebeests to graze on the shorter grass. Wildebeests possess excellent hearing, and zebras have outstanding eyesight, together aiding in predator management. At one point, we stopped for 10 minutes as hundreds of zebras and wildebeests crossed the road right in front of us.
I

Numerous elephants, including calves, sought shelter beneath their mothers. African elephants have ears that differ from those of Asian elephants. The ears of African elephants resemble the shape of the African continent!

Baboons are all over the place. The guides advised rolling up windows to prevent them from entering the vehicle. 🚗 A driver mentioned baboons entering through windows in Cape Town. They got into the refrigerator, drank leftover wine from the previous night, became intoxicated, and passed out. When the family returned home, they had to call the police to remove the baboons from their house.
